New

So…I finally started working on something new the other night. I mean, I have that huge mess with a lot of notes for the city of love, but this is shorter, more free and in the moment. But of course, it is all sort of a practice for the kind of writing that the city will need.

And I am beginning to apply all the things I am learning (or have learned) and it is interesting the subtle difference it is making.

Subtle, but I catch myself looking at the 5 rules of the Sublime I have written on my walls and going…uh uh, no, find another way to say it. And I start all over again.

The content is also different. I think, in retrospect a lot of my work has ended with a question mark and this one doesn’t. Yet even within that there is a question mar because there is just so little that one can know. I mean, its like in walking yourself through something you come out the other end with more questions revealed then answered. And I wonder if that is part of the nature of life, that the “settling” or “coming to terms with” or “processing through” is not so much about putting things to rest as discovering what questions you should be asking in balance to where you are in your experience.

The nature of learning, I am discovering, is not to provide answers but to teach you how to phrase the questions that need to be asked.

Just a short aside, now back to the grind. Life is getting relatively normal again but at some point I hope I am caught up enough to actually leave the house, it is getting to be a little bit like being in a cell here.
